NPoCP? The 540 Wagon didn't ship here with a row-your-own, you have dreamed about it, perhaps even fantasized about it. Science now has delivered. But is this a worthy price? Is the CEL = Doom? You decide if making your own BMW unicorn is worth it.
Proceed at your own risk - CEL = Parts car

Agree on CP - What's your main reason? To me, boils down to price. $5K is my limit to try this unicorn. At 193K miles, it has more questions than answers.

CEL with no specific reason given

If the ECU is still looking for the automatic transmission's computer, it will trigger a driveline fault and illuminate the CEL. That said, man does that ad have some questionable-sounding issues in it.

"Needs a cam timing adjustment"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
On a double VANOS M62? I hope not. There are a few possibilities that could cause the stated issue, the most common of which are bad cam position sensors (there are 2) or MAFs. They can have weirdo issues with the VANOS solenoids & oil pumping into the engine wiring harness too. Without knowing the codes it's all conjecture, but I'd be really curious as to whether these issues predate the swap or not.
These are actually really good engines, oil leaks notwithstanding. If you know someone with an Autologic the coding is easy. Hint: I have one, a few hours from this car. If I didn't already have a silver BMW wagon with a manual, I'd jump on this & finish it. That timing chain guide & reseal job alone is over $2500, so if this thing is as represented, it's an ok price. Not a great price, but a fair one to ask & maybe negotiate from.
